The first package is the most advertised offer in the market and the least read. This page reads it, in pounds.
Welcome Bonus: Costing the First Package
A welcome bonus multiplies your first deposit, prints a large headline, and then attaches the multiplier that decides what any of it is worth. At the forty times multiplier common across this end of the market, a £50 deposit matched at 100% creates £100 of bonus and roughly £4,000 of staking before conversion, and a cap frequently bounds the withdrawable outcome well below the banner. This page runs the match arithmetic end to end, shows where deposit-based packages differ from the no deposit family, and sets the licensed British baseline alongside the offshore rows.

How the match works, mechanically
The mechanics of a first package are three numbers and a cap. The deposit is yours. The percentage multiplies it into bonus funds, so £50 at 100% becomes £50 of your money and £50 of bonus. The multiplier, printed as a number of times, attaches to the bonus and usually to the deposit as well at offshore-facing operators, which is the first term readers miss. A 40x requirement on bonus plus deposit at the figures above is £4,000 of staking, twice what a bonus-only requirement would demand.
Where the requirement applies matters as much as its size. Bonus-only requirements halve the work; bonus-plus-deposit requirements double it; deposit-only requirements, rare now, attach the whole task to money that was already yours. Read the sentence in the terms that names what the multiplier applies to, because that sentence is the difference between a workable package and an unfinishable one.
Timing runs from activation or from the deposit itself. Most packages start the clock on deposit, which means play before reading the terms still counts, which is generous in one direction and binding in another: the expiry window, usually seven to thirty days, is running from the first minute. Plan the staking pace against the window before the deposit, not after.
Payment method exclusions are the last mechanical gate. Skrill and Neteller deposits are excluded from many first packages at licensed operators, and similar exclusions appear offshore, sometimes covering e-wallets generally. Depositing through an excluded rail commonly voids the bonus entitlement, and the cashier page, not the banner, is where the list lives.
The turnover maths, worked in pounds
The turnover table of this family is short and unforgiving, so it is worth working once by hand. Take a £50 deposit matched at 100%, giving £50 of bonus. A bonus-only requirement at forty times is £2,000 of staking. A bonus-plus-deposit requirement at the same multiplier is £4,000. At twenty times the same figures halve; at sixty times they rise by half again. Across this end of the market the printed multipliers on first packages run broadly from thirty to fifty times, and we assume forty times for the worked figures on this page because that is where the market’s centre of gravity sits; the terms of any given package are the only authority for its own number.
Game weighting then divides the task by the game. Slots count at full value, so the printed figure is the real one on slots. Tables count at a tenth or less, so the same package cleared on roulette is ten times the work. The weighting table in the terms is as consequential as the multiplier, and a reader who intends to play tables should cost the package at the table weighting, not the slot one, before deciding it is worth claiming.
Stake sizing converts pounds of staking into sessions. At £1 stakes, £4,000 of turnover is four thousand spins or hands, which is a substantial fortnight for a regular player and a full month for an occasional one. At £2 stakes within the usual maximum-bet ceiling, the same task halves in time and doubles in balance risk. The maximum stake while wagering tends to print between £2 and £5 at this end of the market, and breaching it typically voids the bonus and its winnings, so the ceiling is a boundary to respect exactly.
Deposit packages versus the no deposit family
The two families look similar in banners and behave differently in arithmetic, and the difference is the deposit itself. In a no deposit offer the multiplier attaches to winnings, which are uncertain and usually small, so the staking task scales with luck. In a deposit package the multiplier attaches to amounts that are certain and printed, so the staking task is known before the first spin. That certainty cuts both ways: the offer’s cost is knowable, and so is its weight.
The cap behaves differently too. No deposit offers cap the conversion of winnings; first packages more often cap the bonus itself, meaning the match stops paying beyond a ceiling, commonly a few hundred pounds at this end of the market. A 100% match capped at £300 gives the full match on a £300 deposit and the same £300 on a £1,000 deposit, which makes depositing beyond the cap pure exposure with no bonus return. Size the deposit to the cap, always.
Expiry windows run tighter on deposit packages than on the no deposit family in many cases, because the operator’s exposure is larger. Thirty days is common, seven is not rare, and the interaction with the larger staking task is the package’s defining pressure: more work, less time, on amounts that were partly yours to begin with.
Turnover charted at the common multipliers
The chart compresses the section above into four bars, and the widest bar is the one to internalise. When the requirement applies to bonus plus deposit, the task is not twice a large number by accident; it is the structure most first packages actually print. A reader who confirms which structure applies before depositing has done the single highest-value check available in this family.
Caps and windows on first packages
Three figures bound the outcome of any first package. The match cap stops the percentage paying beyond its ceiling. The conversion treatment decides whether the bonus converts to cash on completion or piece by piece as wagering progresses, with the latter, where it appears, materially friendlier because a bad run does not erase everything. The expiry window bounds the time, and it is the term that kills more clearings than any other, because the staking task on a first package is large enough that a short window turns a feasible plan into an impossible one.
The interaction worth pricing is the window against the task. A £4,000 turnover requirement inside thirty days is about £133 of staking a day, feasible at moderate stakes for a daily player. The same requirement inside seven days is about £570 a day, which is a different life. Where two packages print similar multipliers, the window decides, and it should be read before the multiplier rather than after.
One structural note: some packages convert winnings progressively, so that as you wager, portions of the bonus move to cash in steps. Where that structure appears, the risk profile improves sharply, because a run of bad luck costs only the unconverted remainder. It is worth looking for in the terms and worth weighting in any comparison between two superficially similar packages.
The page model
The calculator runs the match shape directly: deposit, match percentage, multiplier and cap. It arrives preloaded with £50, 100%, forty times and a £500 cap, the figures this slice of the market most commonly prints. The output is the turnover in pounds and the bounded outcome; change the assumptions and the output follows them, which is the point of the tool.
Bonus after cap: £50.00. Turnover to clear: £2,000. Assumption: the multiplier applies to the bonus, slots contribute in full.
The calculator models the terms you type in; it does not promise an outcome. Figures are category-typical unless you change them.
Run the model twice, once with the requirement on bonus only and once on bonus plus deposit, and the two turnovers bracket the honest range of what any given package might cost. The gap between them is the value of the single sentence in the terms that names what the multiplier applies to.
The licence baseline, once
British law places gambling for British customers under the Gambling Act 2005 and the Gambling Commission, whose public register records every licensee. Offers of the kind described on this site do not appear on that register, and the absence has a price list: no GamStop coverage, no Commission dispute route, no statutory fund protection, no regulator-enforced ceiling on the terms. This page prices that list once and leaves it here.
For the player, taking such an offer is not itself an offence. The trade is protections for flexibility, and the licensed rows of the next table are what the protections look like in product form. If gambling has stopped being entertainment for you, the National Gambling Treatment Service, GamCare and GambleAware offer free support independent of any operator, and one GamStop registration covers every licensed site.

Read the table column by column: licence first, since it separates the verifiable British baseline from the rows this page’s aside covers; wagering second, where the licensed side clusters and the offshore side spreads; payout windows last, where commitments and estimates diverge. Rows are descriptors rather than recommendations, and the operator’s own page is the only authority on the day you deposit.
